Winter Solstice

It's such a busy time of year for everyone and hardly a moment to spare for the sewing room....but everyone is coming home for Christmas..... Somehow though I did manage to sneak a few minutes to finally finish piecing my Winter Solstice quilt in time for the big day itself. I never paid much attention to such events before we lived in Sweden, but the winter days are so long and dark here that it becomes rather like climbing a high peak, knowing that once you get to the top, things will get easier.

Always my favourite colours, Red and Aqua - these Moda Fabrics from the Winter's Lane range are wonderful for Camille Roskelley's pattern.  Once we return to live in England, this quilt, with its winter colours and dramatic stars will always remind me of the sparkly and frosty nights of Stockholm.  It turned out to be an extremely large quilt though and I am not sure how on earth I will be able to quilt it on my sewing machine.... hmmm.....something to think about over the holidays, along with all the new projects just waiting to leap onto my cutting table in the New Year!   But for now, its time to hang up my needle and thread for some serious christmas chilling.

So from my merry band, we wish all of you a Very Happy Christmas, complete with extreme over indulgence and loads of family fun.

God Jul..... Joyeux Noël......Счастливого Рождества.......Happy Christmas..... Ruby x
